The Research Sector Conducts a Visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy

The executive team at the Office of Vice President for Research conducted a visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy on the 16th of May 2022, where Prof. Rashid Al-Anezi, Vice President for Research, along with Dr. Ali Al-Mutairi, Assistant Vice President for Research Implementation and Finance, Dr. Noriah Al- Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, and Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation met with Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Pierre Moreau, faculty members, teaching assistants and graduate students to address matters related to the research activity at the faculty, and to assist in facing the challenges that researchers face through the placement of practical steps. This also provided the opportunity to receive the faculty’s suggestions regarding the development and elevation of scientific research.

At the beginning, Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Pierre Moreau expressed his appreciation for the Research Sector’s initiative, praising the sectors efforts to elevate the scientific research standing. Prof. Rashid Al-Anezi, the Vice President for Research, then took the opportunity to welcome the audience, thanking the Faculty of Pharmacy for holding this visit, and wishing the audience to benefit from this meeting.

Dr. Noriah Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, then gave a brief presentation on RS role in supporting the research vision and research projects conducted by faculty members and graduate students, and RS role in facilitating all procedures and matters regarding the development of scientific research at Kuwait University. Dr. Al-Kandari encouraged researchers at the Faculty of Pharmacy to participate in supporting the research endeavor of Kuwait University through their specialized scientific research in their fields that aim to enhance the infrastructure of scientific research at Kuwait University. Dr. Ali Al-Mutairi, Assistant Vice President for Research Implementation and Finance, took the opportunity to address matters regarding manpower for research projects, scientific missions and visiting experts, as well as research budgets, purchases and other matters of interest for researchers in order for them to successfully complete their research. On her part, Dr, Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation explained the Office of External Research Collaboration and Consultation role in signing research agreements and collaborations with local and global institutions, and organizing events and scientific seminars that serve researchers, in addition to the vital role played by the Patents and Intellectual Property Office at Kuwait University.

This visit is considered a vital step towards enhancing researchers trust in the research grant system and fully introducing them to the available research and facilities which in turn will encourage them to increase their participation in research activity. After that, the door for inquiries was opened for questions on vital topics which included specifying scientific journals categories in which research should be published in terms of the various research project funding categories, and the research projects productivity criteria, as well as the procedures followed to acquire research equipments and consumables. The procedures to acquire financial grants which the RS provides were also explained in addition to several topics of interest to researchers.

RS took the opportunity to extend its thanks to the Faculty of Pharmacy for holding this visit which aims to enhance the trust in the regulations and procedures followed at RS with the goal to aid in creating a strong incentive to achieve high quality research that contributes in elevating Kuwait University’s global standing.
