KU President Receives a Delegation from Scopus

Prof. Fahd Al-Rashidi, Acting Kuwait University President, received a delegation from Scopus represented by Mr. Wael Mansour, ELSEVIER’s Senior Research Consultant, Mr. Diaa Medhat, Regional Director - Research Intelligence Solutions in the Middle East and Turkey - ELSEVIER, and Dr. Ismail Warad, Academic Advisor and Dean of Scientific Research.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Othman Al-Khudher, Acting Vice President for Research, Mr. Sami Al-Wuhaibi, Scientific Publishing Council Manager, Dr. Noriah Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, and Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation.

Welcoming the visiting delegation, Prof. Fahd Al-Rashidi, stressed the importance of listing Arabic journals in research databases given that some colleges do not accept any research material unless it is in Arabic, such as the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts.  Therefore, the presence and widespread of Arabic journals within research databases and the publishing of research papers in Arabic and international journals serve Kuwait University in terms of faculty promotion laws. He further signaled that this visit is an opportunity for cooperation by committing to the standards that will contribute to elevate Kuwait University’s status.
