Research Initiation Grant (RIG)
The Research Sector is pleased to announce the Research Initiation Grant offered exclusively to newly appointed Kuwaiti academic faculty members at the assistant professor level who have not completed two years since joining Kuwait University or applied for any previous research projects.
Such research services are offered as incentives for young researchers to help them accomplish their innovative scientific aspirations yielding internationally accredited outputs that can enhance Kuwait University's classification as a prestigious public academic institution.
Dr. Naser Al-Tannak, Acting Vice President for Research, invited the recently inducted Kuwaiti faculty members to take advantage of the RIG grants as a step towards more advanced and comprehensive studies funded by KU's Research Sector.
Researchers are also invited to refer to the Rules and Regulations of the Research Support System to familiarize themselves with the various aspects of the RS grant procedures including funded projects, procedures, requirements and regulations, as well as projects grant duration. The maximum duration for a RIG project is 12 months with a fixed budget of KD 2,000 confined to devices, consumables and temporary manpower.
Continuing further, Dr. Al-Tannak said that applications for RIG proposals are accepted from 16/9/2024 to 31/12/2024, inviting applicants to visit the RS website and review Chapter Thirteen, Article 57, Rules & Regulations of the Research Support System for more details on RIG projects. Interested researchers may submit their proposals through the online Research Portal accessed from the RS website.
