A Delegation from Kuwait University (KU) visits Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to discuss the joint research collaboration between the two institutes

The delegation from Kuwait University (KU) visited Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) in Al-Ahmadi, on Thursday 15 December 2022 at 10 am. This meeting comes as a continuation of the cooperation agreement in the field of strategic research and development signed between the two institutes in July 2019 over the period of 5 years related to the cooperation in the field of reservoirs, heavy oil and natural gas. The agreement aims to achieve research collaboration between KU and KOC through the transfer of technology and knowledge, improvement of production processes and refining processes, development of industrial and technological processes through scientific research, and to attract the largest possible number of academic staff members from Kuwait University.

The delegation from KU included Acting Vice President for Research Prof. Othman Al-Khudhir, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development Prof. Noriah Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Acting Assistant Vice President for Research Implementation and Finance Dr. Abdullah Al-Sultan, Acting Vice Dean of Research Affairs Dr. Suzzan Al-Bustan, and Acting Dean of Faculty of Science Dr. Mohammad Bin Sabt, among faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum (Dr. Mishal Al-Ghareeb and Dr. Mabkhout Al-Dousari from the Department of Petroleum Engineering, and Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sulaili from the Department of Civil Engineering). The delegation from KOC included Manager of Innovation and Technology Mr. Hamad Al-Zaabi, Mr. Abdullah Eid Al-Otaibi Planning and Support Team Leader and the agreement supervisor, among a group of team leaders and members delegated with following up and implementing the agreement and research projects. The meeting revolved around a detailed presentation of the current status of the projects, in addition to a clear description of the projects which resulted from this agreement presented by the concerned implementation teams formed by both institutions.

The meeting also addressed various aspects of joint scientific and research cooperation between KU and KOC as Prof. Othman Al-Khudir emphasized KU’s dedicated and continuous effort to overcome obstacles in order to achieve a fruitful research collaboration with the prestigious institution.

Prof. Noriah Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, also touched up some of the most vital administrative, technical and financial matters faced by researchers in their fully funded research by KOC, where these matters where addresses with the aim to reach appropriate solutions, and in turn, will result in significantly strengthening the collaboration between KU and KOC.

Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, explained that KU welcomes this cooperation between the two parties in the service of research, development and comprehensive progress.
