RS Takes Part in the Orientation Meeting Organized by the Office of Vice President for Scientific Affairs Held for New Faculty Members

The Research Sector has received a generous invitation from the Office of Vice President for Scientific Affairs to take part in the orientation meeting held for new faculty members who have recently joined the academic body at Kuwait University. Representing the RS, Dr. Noriah Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, presented a scientific lecture on the research support system provided by RS for faculty members to nurture their scientific and research ambitions and to fulfill their academic aspirations. Dr. Al-Kandari addressed the various aspects of research projects support, starting from the project proposal until its completion, and through the various steps of its revision, approval, funding, progress and final reports, refreeing and all other steps that a research project goes through. Dr. Al-Kandari also explained the different types of grants offered by RS, as well as budget levels, and everything related to research project funding.

Dr. Al-Kandari also emphasized that it is important for new faculty members to align their research journey with their academic endeavor, stressing the importance of allocating the proper time to achieve scientific research. She also explained the importance of proceeding into this journey at an early time in order for faculty members to build their scientific and research expertise and skills, which will have a great impact on building their distinguished academic reputation, benefiting both the faculty member and Kuwait University. Dr. Al-Kandari also emphasized that the most important opportunity for new faculty members to initiate their research journey is to apply for the Research Initiation Grant (RIG), which is one of the research project grants provided by the Research Sector for new Kuwaiti faculty members as a way for them to delve into greater and deeper research. The registration for Research Initiation Grants has begun on the 1st of September, and will continue until 31st of September 2022.

In this context, Dr. Noriah al-Kandari encouraged all new faculty members to communicate with Research Sector and be presented to the services and facilities provided for faculty members to help them achieve research projects in various disciplines.

In conclusion, Dr. Al-Kandari expressed her appreciation for the invitation extended by the Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs to take part in such a distinguished event. The door for questions was then opened, which Dr. Noriah Al-Kandari responded to in elaboration and detail.
