The Office of Vice President for Research meets with Researchers at the Faculty of Architecture

The Visit was Conducted in a Spirit of Open Discussion

The executive team at the OVPR conducted a visit to the Faculty of Architecture on 30 March 2022, where Prof. Rashid Al-Anezi, Vice President for Research, along with Dr. Ali Al-Mutairi, Assistant Vice President for Research Finance and Implementation, Dr. Noriah Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, and Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation met with Acting Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Dr. Omar Khattab along with faculty members, teaching assistants and graduate students at the faculty to discuss matters regarding the faculty research activity, and to provide assistance in overcoming challenges that researchers face through putting in place practical steps, and to listen to suggestions regarding the development of scientific research and its advancement.

At the beginning, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Dr. Omar Khattab explained the value of this initiative, praising RS efforts to elevate the standing of scientific research at the Faculty of Architecture. Prof. Rashid Al-Anezi, Vice President for Research then welcomed the audience, thanking the Faculty of Architecture for hosting this visit and wishing for the audience to gain utmost benefit from it. Following this, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development Dr. Noriah Al-Kandari gave a brief presentation on RS role in supporting the research vision and research projects of faculty members and graduate students, and in facilitating procedures related to the development of scientific research at Kuwait University. Dr. Al-Kandari also encouraged researchers at the Faculty of Architecture to support the University research endeavor through their own participation in conducting specialized scientific research in their own fields with the aim to enhance the scientific research infrastructure at Kuwait University.

Assistant Vice President for Research Finance and Implementation, Dr. Ali Al-Mutairi then spoke about matters regarding manpower procedures for research projects, scientific missions and visiting experts, as well as research purchases budgets along with other topics of importance for researchers in order for them to successfully complete their research.

This visit is considered a vital step towards strengthening researchers trust in the research grants system, and introducing them to what they need to know regarding research and facilities provided, which in turn shall encourage them to enhance their participation in research activity. The door was then opened for any questions or inquiries to address vital topics which included the categories of scientific journals to be published in based on the various categories of research projects budgets, the standard of scientific research productivity, the procedures followed to obtain appliances and consumables for research, in addition to discussing the procedures of financial grants which the sector provides along with various subjects of interest to researchers.

The Research Sector then extended its thanks to the Faculty of Architecture for hosting this visit which reinforce trust in the rules and procedures followed at RS which, in turn, create a strong motivator to accomplish high quality research that contribute to elevating the global ranking of Kuwait University.
