RS holds the “Scientific Research Forum in the Faculty of Social Sciences”

“National vision and Future Aspirations”

Under the slogan “National vision and Future Aspirations”, the Research Sector organized the Scientific Research Forum which was held and dedicated to faculty members, teaching assistants and graduate students at the College of Social Sciences. The forum took place on Wednesday, 15th of December 2021 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kuwait International Bank (KIB) No. 119 Hall in Shuwaikh Campus.

The RS team was represented by Dr. Ali Al-Mutairi, Acting Vice President for Research, and included Dr. Noriya Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Development and Analysis and Dr. Salman Al-Sabah, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation. The team met with Prof. Maha Al-Sejari, Acting Dean of the College of Social Sciences, academic staff and graduate students, where the discussion revolved around the research activity in the college.

              

Dr. Al-Sejari started by commending the RS initiative to hold the research forum, and the efforts they put in enhancing scientific research at the College of Social Sciences. Dr. Al-Mutairi then thanked the College of Social Sciences for hosting this meeting while hoping to achieve the optimal benefit.

Dr. Al-Kandari followed by giving a brief presentation on RS efforts in supporting research vision and projects of faculty members and graduate students, while focusing on the sector's role in facilitating procedures and regulations related to the development of scientific research at Kuwait University. She also invited researchers at the College of Social Sciences to take part in supporting the research process through their active participation in scientific research in their respective fields. The presentation also included a statistical overview of all funded research projects implemented by the College of Social Sciences from January 2013 to November 2021, providing a comprehensive outlook for the current research activity at the college.

On his part, Dr. Al-Mutaitri explained the policies applied for projects manpower, research missions, visiting experts, purchases and research budgets, as well as other substantial issues to accomplish research projects effectively.

Defining the role of the External Research Collaboration and Consultation Office, Dr. Al-Sabah demonstrated the research agreements and partnerships with local and international institutions, scientific events and seminars that serve researchers. In addition, he reviewed the mission of the Patents and Intellectual Property Office at Kuwait University.

For the Research Sector, the visit is vitally important for strengthening researchers confidence in the research grants system while orienting them with the avail facilities laying the ground for further participation in research activity. The meeting covered several key aspects such as defining the categories of scientific journals in which to publish according to the different categories of research budgets, the productivity standards for research projects, as well as the procedures for obtaining research equipment and consumables. Also discussed were the procedures for financial grants provided by the RS to best help researchers achieve their goals.
