The Office pf Patents and Intellectual Property at the Research Sector in Kuwait University announced the registration of a new patent in the field of rock analysis and laboratory experiments. This new patent offers an advanced solution to heating rock samples using a microwave. This holder improves the effectiveness of geological analyses by incorporating a new power source based on microwave radiation. Simply put, the heat source needed to raise the temperature of the sample in the wells is generated when an electrical current passes through a magnetron containing a radioactive element, which is thorium. The resulting microwave radiation is then sent to a safe chamber containing a hot liquid or a bag of water, the heat is then transferred from the liquid to the sample, which contributes to improving accuracy and efficiency in laboratory experiments. The invention features an advanced design that allows precise control of temperature and pressure. It ensures that there is no leakage under any conditions. This invention opens a new horizon for improving the quality of analyses in the field of geological and geochemical research.

In this occasion, the Office of Patents at Kuwait University honored the inventors Dr. Osama Ali Al-Omair, and the engineers Nizo Christian Ozbouiki and Ahmed Essam Omar, Under the patronage of Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Meshari Al-Harbi. KU President congratulated the inventors for obtaining a patent, expressing his pride in their distinguished scientific and research efforts. He expressed his deep pride in the prominent role played by the Office of Patents and Intellectual Property Rights at the Research Sector, as he praised the Office constant excellence in supporting inventors and facilitating all procedures for them to obtain registered patents, demonstrating its excellence in this field and its provision of comprehensive support to innovators in order to achieve creativity.

Prof. Othman Al-Khudir, Acting Vice President for Research, explained that the serious efforts dedicated by the Research Sector led to the encouragement of researchers to obtain patents for their distinguished research work. He also expressed his pride in the distinguished research community and the scientists who have succeeded in obtaining innovative patents, pointing out that the contributions of those researchers will play a vital role in the development of the State of Kuwait.

In her turn, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, explained that the Research Sector is constantly supporting inventors, and this support falls within the framework of the University's efforts to enhance scientific research and encourage innovation, where financial and technical support is granted to encourage inventors to develop their ideas and transform them into effective inventions.
