The Office of External Research Collaboration and Consultation at the Research Sector organized a workshop on using Zotero programs to organize research sources and references for faculty members and graduate students at Kuwait University. The workshop was held on Thursday, 16 of November, 2023 in the College of Business Administration at Sabah Al-Salem University City – Al-Shadadiya, and was presented by Dr. Hussein Ibrahim from the Department of Media – Faculty of Arts.
Dr. Hussein explained that the workshop aims to introduce faculty members and graduate students as well as researchers at Kuwait University to the methods of using Zotero programs for listing, arranging and organizing the sources and references of scientific research and the methods of including them in Master’s theses and PhD dissertations, in addition to its optimal use in scientific research for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Zotero is a free program despite its high ability to organize sources in an electronic manner that saves researchers time in organizing the sources and references of their scientific research.
During the workshop, Dr. Hussein touched on several topics, including an introduction to using Zotero, creating a library for Zotero, including references and sources in Word program, saving files in Zotero, and creating a shared library with other researchers.
On her part, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation – Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra encouraged Kuwait University affiliates to use Zotero programs. She also explained that RS aims through this workshop to support young researchers and double their activity in achieving high quality research projects of scientific value which will undoubtedly lead to elevating Kuwait University’s global standing.
