The Research Sector, represented by the Office of External Research Collaboration and Consultation, organized a Meta-analysis workshop for Kuwait University affiliates, which was presented by Prof. Hisham Gad Al-Rab from the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The workshop focused on the importance of meta-analysis in helping researchers make decisions and enhance the understanding of complex phenomena by collecting and analyzing existing evidence.
Prof. Hisham Gad Al-Rab initiated the workshop by defining meta-analysis as a statistical tool used in scientific research to combine and analyze the results of multiple studies on the same research subject or question. It aims to summarize and evaluate the available evidence by collecting data from a variety of previous studies and analyzing them critically.
Prof. Hisham Gad Al-Rab also added that the collected data is analyzed in Meta-analysis to understand the relationship between variables and determine the extent of a certain effect or identify potential Moderating Variables. It is considered a powerful tool for providing more accurate and comprehensive conclusions based on a wide range of data. Meta-analysis is used in various research fields such as medicine, psychology, education, social sciences, and others. The workshop also provided a practical explanation of how meta-analysis is used through Comprehensive Meta Analysis (CMA) program.
In this context, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra explained that the Research Sector is constantly striving to enhance the scientific and research process at Kuwait University and develop the capabilities of its members by holding various specialized training courses and workshops. From this standpoint, the Research Sector organized a meta-analysis workshop in order to benefit from modern technology in order to obtain skills and capabilities which help researchers achieve scientific and academic excellence in their scientific research.
