
To enhance communication and exchange of expertise with international research institutions
As part of the efforts to enhance the status of Kuwait University through communication and the exchange of experiences with local and international research institutions, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for Research Funding and Implementation, received a delegation from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The meeting was attended by Dr. Suzanne Al-Bustan, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies, Dr. Zaid Hussein, Head of the Computer Science Department, Dr. Hala Al-Jassar, Head of the Physics Department, several academic staff members and researchers specialized in ICTP research, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ajmi from the College of Engineering and Petroleum, and officials from the Strategic Partnerships Department at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Mr. Jaber Al-Sabah and Ms. Ahd Al-Asousi.
This visit was held in collaboration with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and was attended by a group of researchers and stakeholders from the leadership of the College of Science and the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University.
The visiting delegation included Professor Atish Dabolkar, Director of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Professor Rosario Fazio, Head of the Department of Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics, and Professor Marco Zinaro, Head of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Unit.
The purpose of this visit was to learn about Kuwait University's prominent projects in academic and research fields, discuss opportunities for scientific collaboration and the exchange of expertise to support research aligned with national priorities, and strengthen the ties between the International Centre for Theoretical Physics and scientific institutions in Kuwait. Additionally, the potential for coordination and scientific cooperation between the two institutions in areas of shared research interest was reviewed.
