The Research Sector at Kuwait University recently held a workshop titled "Finding the Right Approach When Writing a Grant Proposal: Practical Suggestions." The event, designed for KU's academic faculty members and graduate students, was presented by Prof. Suzanne Al-Bustan from the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
The workshop covered several essential topics to aid researchers in preparing compelling grant applications. It provided guidance on how to develop research proposals for funding opportunities and outlined the key skills required for this process. These skills included conducting a literature review, defining the rationale and objectives of a study, designing experiments, and effectively communicating the significance of a research proposal. The session also provided a comprehensive look at the various components of a proposal, with particular emphasis on budget allocation, personnel distribution, role justification, managing project timelines and deadlines, data analysis, as well as citations, references, and ethical issues.
The workshop was highly interactive, featuring presentations, group discussions, and hands-on computer sessions. The event concluded with an official recognition of Prof. Al-Bustan for her dedicated efforts and invaluable contribution.
