The Research Sector Organized a Ceremonial Event for Research Awards Recipients for the Academic Year 2024-2025

Honoring Winners of Distinguished Researcher Award, Best Young Researcher Award and Graduate Students Project Awards

The Office of Vice President for Research organized a special ceremonial event for the winners of the Research Awards for the academic year 2024/2025. The ceremony took place on 14/4/2025 and was attended by Prof. Maie Al-Bader, Acting Vice President for Research, Prof. Noriah Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration & Consultation, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis & Development, Dr. Naser Al-Tannak, Assistant Vice President for Research Finance & Implementation, and an elite of researchers.
The ceremony started with a welcoming speech by Prof. Maie Al-Bader congratulating the winning academic faculty members and graduate students and wishing them further success.

On his part, Dr. Naser Al-Tannak said that today’s celebration reflects the research momentum across Kuwait University backed by the continuous efforts of the University Administration, represented by the Research Sector, in providing the appropriate infrastructural needs and funding support for all researchers. He added that these accomplishments significantly contribute to attaining the desired academic and research level imperative to elevate Kuwait University's ranking.

Additionally, Dr. Al-Tannak thanked all members of the RS awards high committees for their efforts hoping that the research awards would serve as a major incentive for KU's researchers to engage in this distinguished program offered by the Research Sector to enhance the scientific research process at Kuwait University.

The winners were honored as follows:

Distinguished Researcher Award 2024-2025

Basic and Applied Sciences

• Dr. Esraa Eisa Al-Eisa – Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering – College of Engineering and Petroleum.
• Dr. Osama Ali Al-Omair - Department of Petroleum Engineering - College of Engineering and Petroleum.

The Distinguished Researcher Award in Arts and Humanities and the Best Young Researcher Award were withheld.

Graduate Students Project Awards 2024-2025

1. Ph.D Degree

• Dr. Rawan Munir Barakat, Department of Physiology, College of Medicine.
• Dr. Bashayer Jassim Al-Zaid, Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine.

2. Master’s Degree

• Asmaa Salem Al-Rashidi, Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering, College of Engineering and Petroleum.
• Noura Munim Munther, Department of Psychology, College of Social Sciences.
• Kawthar Musa Akbar, Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science.
