
Prof. Dina Al-Mailem, Kuwait University President, approved the recommendations of the Higher Committees for the Research Awards for the academic year 2024/2025 (Distinguished Researcher Award, Best Young Researcher Award, and Research Excellence Award for Graduate Students).
Prof. Maie Al-Bader, Acting Vice President for Research, commended the remarkable efforts of all members of the Higher Committees for the Research Awards in reviewing and evaluating the applications of the candidates. She also announced the names of the researchers and wished them further success.
Winners of the Distinguished Researcher Award in Basic and Applied Sciences:
• Prof. William Masocha - Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics - College of Pharmacy.
• Dr. Israa Abdulwahab Al-Essa - Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems - College of Engineering and Petroleum.
• Dr. Osama Ali Al-Omair - Department of Petroleum Engineering - College of Engineering and Petroleum.
The Distinguished Researcher Award in Arts and Humanities and the Best Young Researcher Award were withheld.
Winners of the Research Excellence Award for Graduate Students for the PhD Program:
• Dr. Rawan Munir Barakat, Department of Physiology, College of Medicine.
• Dr. Bashayer Jassim Al-Zaid, Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine.
Winners of the Research Excellence Award for Graduate Students for the Master's Program:
• Sara Al-Sayed Ahmed, Department of Chemistry, College of Science.
• Asmaa Salem Al-Rashidi, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems, College of Engineering and Petroleum.
• Noura Munim Munther, Department of Psychology, College of Social Sciences.
• Kawthar Musa Akbar, Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nasser Al-Tannak, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis & Development, congratulated all academic faculty members and graduate students on winning the Research Awards wishing them continued success. He emphasized that scientific research is the gateway to development for all countries and a top priority for universities around the world. He also highlighted the importance of these achievements in attaining the desired academic and research level and elevating KU's ranking, signaling that the winning research papers provide practical and scientific solutions to national concerns. Dr. Al-Tannak valued the great efforts of the members of the Higher Research Awards Committees in reviewing the research papers and selecting winners in all categories. Finally, he hoped that these awards will be a significant incentive for KU's researchers to take part in this distinguished program organized within the Research Sector's endeavor to enhance the scientific research process.
