Patents Office at the Research Sector to Take Part in the 16th International Invention Fair in the Middle East "IIFME"

Kuwait University is participating in the 16th International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME) held by Kuwait Science Club from February 8th – 11th, 2026 at the Courtyard Marriot – Arraya Hall. 

The participation will showcase the work of a select group of KU's inventors holding patents registered at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), demonstrating KU's commitment to nurturing research and innovation.
Featured inventions and teams:

• Prof. Saad Makhseed from the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, and Prof. Mohamed Alkordi for their patent: "Method for Preparing Nitrogen/Sulfur-Doped Activated Carbon" – a promising new carbon material for energy storage and environmental technologies.

• Prof. Khaled Alhazza from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and Petroleum, along with his research team of engineers: Shaikha Shams Aldeen, Dalal Anwar Aloudah, Salwa Fares Alazmi, and Hayat Bader Albassam, for their patent: "Automatic Boat Docking System" – an innovative automated system for docking ships and boats.

• Dr. Mohammad A. Alfares, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and Petroleum, along with his research team of engineers: Shaikha O. Alkhalfan, Safa M. Karam, Rabab S. Abdullah, and Zainab K. Ali, for their invention: "Road Pothole Fixer" – a device that provides a temporary, rapid, and safe solution for repairing road potholes.

• Dr. Abdulrahman Miteb Alazemi, Prof. Fouzi Mouffouk, Dr. Laila Abdulmohsen Alhaddad, Mohamed Khaled Emira, Tasneem Salem Habib from the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, and Dr. Abdulhamid Mohammed Emwas from the Imaging and Characterization Core Lab at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, for their invention: "Biomolecule Detection Method Using Diffusion Ordered Spectroscopy" – an advanced method for detecting biomolecules.

The IIFME, deemed as the second most significant invention exhibition worldwide following Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions according to international ranking, has attracted regional and international attention, highlighting the creativity of young Arab inventors while bringing out the advanced role of the State of Kuwait in fostering innovation. All entries are judged by a specialized committee based on international standards.
