Orientation Meeting for New Faculty Members and Academic Support Staff

The Research Sector at Kuwait University participated in the orientation meeting for the new faculty members and new academic support staff, which was organized by the Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs, on Wednesday 9 of September 2026. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dina Al-Mailem, KU president, and a number of academic and administrative leaders in KU.

RS participated in the event through an info booth that showcases the main programs and services offered to support faculty members and researchers, introduces research funding opportunities and the Research Initiation Grant (RIG), and highlights the services that help strengthen the research environment and encourage scientific production and innovation at Kuwait University.

The Vice President for Research, Prof. Abdulla J. Sultan, gave a visual presentation on this occasion, welcoming the new faculty members and emphasizing the importance of their role in developing the scientific and research stand of Kuwait University. He also highlighted the RS commitment to provide the vital support to researchers, helping them develop their research projects, and encouraging their participation in the research and scientific initiatives and programs offered by the university.

Prof. Sultan emphasized that the RS gives special attention to supporting new researchers and enabling them to launch their academic journey, by introducing them to the research programs and services the sector provides, such as (RIG), which is one of the research grants presented to new Kuwaiti faculty members aiming at offering necessary support to new researchers and facilitating their access to services. This will enhance their research skills and abilities and help build a generation of young researchers capable of contributing to the development of the academic research system.

This meeting comes as part of Kuwait University's efforts to support new faculty members and familiarize them with the various sectors and services provided by KU, helping them to be part of the university environment, and supporting their academic and research journey.
