The Research Sector at Kuwait University held an honoring ceremony for academic staff members who obtained patents registered in the US Patents are Trademark Office. The ceremony was held in the presence of Prof. Abdulla Jawad Sultan, the Vice President for Research, and his assistants, on Thursday 18 September 2025, in the RS’s meeting room.
On this occasion, Prof. Sultan expressed his pride and appreciation for the serious efforts of the academic staff members in KU that led to such remarkable achievements. He mentioned that KU, since its establishment, has been and continues to be a source of scientific and cultural brilliance in all specialties within the scientific and humanities fields, where topics that enrich knowledge and are of significance to society, economy, technology and more, are addressed. KU is also a source of creativity through introducing new ideas for academic staff members and graduate students to study issues of concern to society and present appropriate solutions for them.
I am pleased to announce that Kuwait University, through the Office of Patents and Intellectual Property, under the Office of the Vice President for Research, has registered a number of patents during the academic year 2024/2025 by the distinguished efforts of its academic staff members as follows:
• Prof. Khalid Al-Hazza, from the department of mechanical engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum, and his research team including Eng. Shaikha Shams edeen, Eng. Dalal Al-Ouda, Eng. Salwa Al-Azmi, and Eng. Hayat Al-Bassam, for their invention “UBoatlt”, which is an automated system for docking ships and boats.
• Dr. Khalid Ahmad Al-Ali, and Prof. Khalid Al-Hazza, from the department of mechanical engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum, and Prof. Bryan Lawrence Hoskins، who is an academic staff member in the University of Oklahoma in the US, for their invention titled “The Vibration Guidance System “.
