Kuwait University Announces the Organization of the Fifth Scientific Research Conference Entitled: “Enhancing Academic Excellence through Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation”

Kuwait University, represented by the Research Sector, has announced the organization of the Fifth Scientific Research Conference under the title “Enhancing Academic Excellence through Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation.” The conference will be held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Nader Al-Jallal, and in the presence of the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem. The conference will take place over two days, Monday and Tuesday, 9–10 February 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Conference Center of Sabah Al-Salem University City, with the support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.

On this occasion, the Vice President of Kuwait University for Research, Prof.  Abdullah Jawad Sultan affirmed that scientific research constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of Kuwait University’s vision and one of its most important strategic priorities. He emphasized the University’s commitment to supporting scientific research and fostering innovation by providing the necessary funding, encouraging researchers, and strengthening research collaboration and community partnerships with various state institutions. He explained that organizing the Fifth Scientific Research Conference reflects this strategic direction and supports the University’s ongoing academic and research development. Prof. Sultan added that the conference represents one of the effective mechanisms for advancing the research ecosystem at Kuwait University, given its role in enhancing knowledge production and utilizing research outputs to address challenges faced by state institutions, thereby contributing to sustainable development and scientific progress.

In turn, the Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee and Assistant Vice President of the University for External Research Collaboration and Consultations, Dr. Mabkhout Mohammed Al-Dousari, stated that the conference aims to provide an integrated scientific platform to enhance cooperation among researchers in academic and research institutions, government entities, and the private sector, thus directing scientific research toward national priority research issues.
Dr. Al-Dousari explained that the conference will include a number of panel discussions featuring a distinguished group of specialists from within and outside the State of Kuwait. These discussions will address topics such as innovation in interdisciplinary research, digital transformation and its role in enhancing scientific research and national development, indexing scientific journals in international databases, interdisciplinary research in patents from discovery to commercialization, as well as the impact of interdisciplinary research on global university rankings.

He also noted that the conference activities will include a scientific poster exhibition featuring (430) posters, reflecting the contributions of faculty members, supporting academic staff, and graduate students, in addition to the participation of a number of researchers from local research institutions that have cooperation agreements with Kuwait University. These institutions include the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait Oil Company, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences, and Abdullah Al-Salem University.

In conclusion, the Chair of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Mabkhout Al-Dousari, invited all those interested in research and academic affairs, as well as media representatives, to attend and follow the conference activities in order to learn about the most prominent academic achievements and research contributions that reflect the University’s standing and leadership in supporting scientific research and innovation.
